The present watch was retailed by Critzer Bros of San Antonio, TX, a firm active at the turn of the last century. After the first railroad reached San Antonio in 1877, the booming city attracted and cultivated a newly minted monied elite that was keen to purchase luxury goods, such as Patek Philippe watches. The present example, with its exceptionally crafted case, is a stunning example of the Art Nouveau style. Similar examples are illustrated in Huber, M., & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe Watches, Vol. II, Second Edition, p. 136, pl. 69 a., b., and p. 142, pl. 78 a., b.

Signed: Patek Philippe
