Gold lever watch for the Chinese market

A fine and very rare 18K gold and painted on enamel pocket watch, circa 1900. Split pearl-set, keyless minute repeating watch with chronograph, Sennet Freres, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Swiss, made for the Chinese Market. Case with split pearl-set bezels, the band engraved with formal decoration and dark blue enamel, the back cover set with a translucent blue guilloché enamel panel painted with a scene depicting a young couple in a wooded glade. Hinged gold cuvette decorated with exhibition medals.

Translucent Royal blue guilloché dial with gold painted radial Roman numerals, outer gold paillon dot minute markers, outer gold painted fifths of a second chronograph scale with Arabic five minute-seconds numerals, subsidiary seconds. Gold spade hour and minute hands, foliate gold chronograph hand. Frosted gilt movement, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, steel chronograph work on the backplate, repeating on gongs activated by a slide in the band. Cuvette signed.
