Unsigned rock crystal octagonal pendant watch
–
An octagonal rock crystal stackfreed watch in the style of the early 17th century, likely from the 19th century. The oval gilded movement features a verge escapement, stackfreed mounted to the backplate, a polished steel flat two arm balance, a decoratively pierced and engraved balance cock, and a hog’s bristle regulating arm. The blued steel dial plate is overlaid with pierced and engraved scrolling foliate decoration, a silver chapter ring with Roman numerals and half hour divisions, and a single blued steel hand, along with a decoratively engraved mount. The case has a multi faceted rock crystal back and cover that includes decoratively engraved gilt metal mounts, a floriate form pendant, and a plain short terminal.

Length including pendant and terminal: 47 mm

The movement appears to be functioning well, operating for short intervals. The dial shows some light scuffs and scratches. The case has various scratches and small nicks on the rock crystal, along with some cracking in the area where the pendant is attached. The pendant is slightly loose.
