An American 56 hour lever deck watch with power reserve indication in a mahogany deck box and keep case, circa 1942. Damascened nickelled split 3/4 plate keyless movement with going barrel, plain cock with polished steel micrometre regulator, uncut balance employing quarter timing nuts, overcoil hairspring, club foot lever escapement. Signed silvered dial with subsidiaries for power reserve and seconds, Arabic numerals and blue steel hands. Keystone base metal open faced case, clip on cuvette, screw bezel and back marked Bureau of Ship – Chronometer Watch and details of the model and serial number. Two pieces of mahogany deck box lined with green baize, glazed circular aperture to reveal the dial. Attached is a plate detailing instructions on using the watch and setting the hands. Green baize lined mahogany keeps case.
