Rare 18 carat gold hunting cased pocket watch with the coat of arms of Carrara, circa 1861. Good lever movement with cut bimetallic compensation balance and Wolf’s toothing.
Front cover with the coat of arms of Carrara and inscribed: Civitas Carrariae (The city of Carrara), back cover engine-turned.
An 18 Carat gold dome inscribed: A.P. Monteverde Carrara Riconoscetre. (A.P. Monteverde Carrara Grateful). This watch is probably given to the major of Carrara after the unification of Italy from February 24 to September 13, 1861, from the people of Carrara.
White enamel dial with fine Roman numerals and outer minute track, blued steel Breguet hands.
