Navigation watch for Swissair by Longines

A rare, stainless steel Longines Swissair Aviator, pilot’s navigation watch with power reserve and centre seconds, circa 1952.
Very fine manually wound mechanical lever movement, calibre 37.9N, 17 jewels, and gold chatons. Black enamel 24-hour dial with Arabic numerals, outer minutes/seconds track with Arabic five minutes/seconds numerals, power reserve indication, centre seconds, and blued steel hands. Steel polished, case marked Swissair – 2 on the back, inside Reference number 6086-,  and again the number 2. Accompanied by the extract from the archives.

Longines made a very small quantity of these navigation watches for Swissair in the 1950s, the wristwatch Ref. 6630 and the pocketwatch Ref. 6086. The 6630 is traded today at collector’s prices; the 6086 is even rarer than the wristwatch version!
