An exceptionally large and heavy hunting cased chronograph pocket watch with carillon made by Invicta SA in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, circa 1900. This impressive and numbered full hunter watch was crafted from 14 carat gold and has hallmarks of Invicta SA and Fils de Raphael Picard & Cie. from La Chaux-de-Fonds. The white enamel dial has Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track, a concentric fifth of a second track calibrated from 0-300, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and blued steel hands. The glazed movement has a lever escapement, very rare chiming mechanism with a quarter hour carillon and a chronograph.
The cuvette and dial are marked Chanteclair, the cuvette is further engraved with price medals and Medaille d’or 1895.

Invicta SA
Invicta is an American watch designer and manufacturer headquartered in Hollywood, Florida. Invicta began as a Swiss watch company in 1837, founded by Raphael Picard in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. In the early 1980s, Invicta went bankrupt and was sold in 1983 to Ondix S.A, which continued producing Invicta watches in Switzerland. Ondix folded due to disappointing sales, and Invicta was re-established in 1991 when acquired by American owners. In April 2016, Invicta acquired Swiss watch manufacturer Glycine, with Invicta’s CEO promising to respect Glycine’s independence as it supports the Swiss watchmaker financially. Invicta produces some of its lineup in Switzerland, those models are signed “Swiss Made” on the watch face and specified in the website description for the models. In November 2012, Invicta announced a line of watches endorsed and designed by Hall of Fame NFL player Jason Taylor. In February 2020, Invicta announced a partnership with Authentic Brands Group (ABG) for Shaquille O’Neal. On June 1, 2023, Invicta’s retail division filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with plans to close some of its physical retail locations.
