Gold full hunter lever pocket watch

A Swiss 14 carat gold hunting cased pocket watch made by the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen for Eduard Barth in Zürich, circa 1900. The watch features a mechanical movement with an anker escapement, compensated balance wheel and blued steel Breguet balance spring. It has a white enamel dial with black Breguet hour numerals, gold outer dot minute divisions, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and spade hands, signed Ed. Barth Zürich. The smooth case has a gold cuvette and is stamped IWC.

Barth & Co. was founded in 1890 by Eduard Barth. It was a Swiss jeweller and watchmaker located at 92/94 Bahnhofstrasse in Zürich. The company was part of the Alpina Union Horlogère.
On August 31, 1944, Eduard Barth Jr. took over the business. In 1968, Emilie Barth-Leutert (1900–1979) lived at Bahnhofstrasse 94, where the company was also registered. She was Eduard Barth’s daughter-in-law and married to Alfred Barth (1893–1931), who also ran a bookshop at the same address.
Barth & Co. supplied watches from brands such as the International Watch Company Schaffhausen, Omega and Tissot.
