Gold hunting cased lever watch

A very fine and rare Swiss, 18 Carat yellow gold, quarter repeating, keyless hunting cased pocket watch, circa 1864. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. Sold on February 9, 1865. Engine turned and polished, the front cover engraved with the monogram IH beneath a Marquis’s coronet, the back cover centred by a quatrefoil rosette, flat topped winding crown. Hinged gold cuvette.

White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel Breguet hands. Frosted gilt, bar calibre movement, 17 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold temperature and meantime adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide in the band.
