Gold full hunter repeating chronograph lever watch
–
A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold hunting cased pocket watch with chronograph and minute repeater, sold by Hisbrunner & Co. in Shanghai, early 20th century. This watch has a hand wound mechanical movement with a compensated bimetallic balance, a lever escapement, an advance/delay adjustment rack, and a two hammer gong chime for the minute repeater. Two push buttons on the pendant activate the chronograph and the minute repeater chime. The white enamel dial shows Roman numerals for the hours, a minute track with Arabic five minute numerals, a central chronograph hand, a small seconds hand, an external graduation for 1/5th of a second, and Louis XV hands for the time. The round 18 carat yellow gold guilloché case has a blanco cartouche and a hinged hunter case back. The gold cuvette is signed and numbered.

The mention of Shanghai as the place of establishment is interesting. Hisbrunner & Co. was a Swiss retailer active in China, giving this watch a special provenance for the Asian market.
