Pink gold open faced key winding repeating watch
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat pink gold open faced quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1820. It has a mechanical key winding fire gilded brass movement with a chain and fusee, a verge escapement, and an exceptionally large, ornately pierced, hand engraved skeletonized balance bridge with an endstone. The watch includes a vibrant blue enamel steel regulator disc and a quarter repeating mechanism that strikes two steel gongs when the top pendant is pressed. The movement plates are lavishly decorated with floral and scroll engraving.
–
The white enamel dial is faulty, showing damage and material loss near 2 and 3 o’clock. It features black Arabic numerals for the hours, a fine outer minute track, and blued steel Breguet style hands. The timepiece is housed in an 18 carat pink gold open faced case with a finely engine turned reverse back cover decorated with a small vacant shield cartouche at the base, a corded caseband edge, and a hinged front bezel with glass cover.
