Gold open faced lever pocket watch

A very fine and rare Swiss, 18K gold and enamel keyless pocket watch, circa 1900. Made for Guillermo Rodriguez. A heavy case, cast and chased with oak leaves and acorns, similarly decorated trefoil bow, hinged back cover cast and pierced with a lion rampant within gothic tracery. Hinged gold cuvette chased with foliage and flowerheads overlaid with translucent red enamel in a Gothic border revealed through the pierced back.

White enamel dial, large black Arabic numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands. A rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, double stamped with the Seal of Geneva Quality Mark, 21 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, swan-neck micrometre adjustment to the regulator. Dial, case and movement signed.
