Gold hunting cased lever watch
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold full hunter Grand Prix pocket watch made by Zenith, circa 1900. This watch has a high grade, keyless wind manual movement signed Zenith with lever escapement. The white enamel dial shows black Breguet style Arabic numerals for the hours, an outer dotted minute track, a subsidiary small seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and blued steel spade hands. The dial bears a crisp cursive Zenith signature beneath the 12 o’clock marker. The timepiece is housed in a substantial three-body, 18 carat solid yellow gold savonette (full hunter) case with a polished hinged protective front cover, a high mounted fluted winding crown, and a sturdy round suspension bow. The inner gold cuvette (dust cover) is traditionally engraved with celebratory Grand Prix Paris 1900 exhibition prize medals.
