A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch, circa 1900. It has a hand wound mechanical movement with a cylinder escapement, protected by an inner gold cuvette. The white enamel dial shows black Arabic numeral hour markers, an outer minute track with Arabic numerals at five minute intervals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and gilt Louis XV style hands. The round 18 carat gold case has a hinged back decorated with a fine engine turned (guilloché) pattern, framing an engraved central cartouche with foliage and flowers that remains vacant. The Swiss origin is confirmed by the 18 carat gold hallmarks and the movement’s technical layout.
