Gold open faced lever watch
–
A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch, circa 1900. This watch has a mechanical hand wound movement with a lever escapement, crown winding, and an integrated pin pusher hand setting mechanism on the bezel near the 11 o’clock position. The circular white enamel dial features black Roman numeral hour markers and an outer minute track with Arabic numerals (5–60). It also has a sunken subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and ornate openwork gilt Louis XV style hands. The 18 carat yellow gold case includes a polished front bezel, a reeded caseband, a deeply fluted winding crown, and a decorative repoussé bow ring with floral and scroll motifs. The hinged back cover is decorated with a large, hand chased scrolling foliate and acanthus leaf monogram cartouche. Inside is a solid 18 carat yellow gold dust cover protecting the mechanism.
