A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch made by Vacheron & Constantin in Geneva, circa 1900. It has a mechanical crown winding manual movement with a high grade lever escapement, bimetallic compensated balance, advanced regulator index engraved with Avance and Retard, and a frosted gilded bridge plate layout signed Vacheron & Constantin Geneve. The gilt matte dial shows black Arabic numerals for the hours, an outer railway minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and blued steel Breguet style hands, signed Vacheron & Constantin. The timepiece is housed in an 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case with a plain polished case back, matching 18 carat gold cuvette, fluted winding crown, and sturdy round suspension bow.
