A fine, small Swiss 18K gold and enamel, pearl-set hunting cased minute repeating keyless lever pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1900. Geometric case with enamelled band, the front cover decorated with the polychrome enamel portrait of a lady on a translucent red enamel over a wavy engine-turned ground, on the back a scene of a courting couple in a rural landscape also on a translucent red enamel over a wavy engine-turned ground, split pearl-set bezels. Hinged gold cuvette over a glazed bezel for viewing the movement. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds and gold Louis XV hands. Frosted gilt movement, 23 jewels, calibrated straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide in the band.
