A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold, enamel, ruby and diamond-set keyless cylinder pendant watch, circa 1900. An Art Nouveau lady’s watch in the form of a beetle with concealed dial. The case with spring-loaded wings, royal blue enamel set with rose-cut diamonds, opening to reveal the dial, the neck black enamelled and set with diamonds, a diamond-set head, cabochon ruby eyes, hinged realistically cast and chased underside. Glazed cuvette. White enamel dial, blue Arabic numerals and red 12, gilt dot outer minute track and gilt spade hands. Gilt movement, bar calibre, eight jewels, cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance, flat balance spring, index regulator.
