A watch and a sketch showing a peacock in the same position are illustrated by Alfred Chapuis in his book “La Montre Chinoise”, suggesting that the enamel of this watch was painted by Louis Rosselet, a Genevan enameller, who has put in use, at the same time as P.-Amedée Champod (1834-1913), a process which by reserving brilliants on gold or silver paillons, renders in a very remarkable way the effects of setting sun or moonlight on the sea.
–
Louis Rosselet, 1833-1913, Geneva. A Genevan enameller working from the mid-19th to the early 20th century known for his whimsical scenes depicting peacocks and fanciful Far Eastern scenes.
