Gold hunting cased chronograph lever watch
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold full hunter Grand Prix pocket watch with chronograph function, made by Zenith, circa 1900. This watch has a high grade keyless wind manual movement signed Zenith, with a lever escapement. The white enamel dial shows black Arabic numerals for the hours, an outermost fifths of a second chronograph track, a tachy scale, a subsidiary continuous small seconds dial, a subsidiary 30 minute chronograph register, a large steel central chronograph seconds hand, and dark steel spade hands. The dial bears a crisp Zenith signature beneath the 12 o’clock marker. The timepiece is housed in a substantial three body, 18 carat solid yellow gold full hunter case. It is uniquely embellished with an intricately engraved Art Nouveau style interlocking monogram on the outer cover. It features a polished hinged protective front cover, a fluted winding crown with an integrated chronograph pusher, and a sturdy round suspension bow. The inner gold cuvette is engraved with the Zenith branding, a decorative arched medal display, and the celebratory Grand Prix Paris 1900 exhibition prize inscriptions.
