Gold and enamel open faced watch

A fine and rare Danish, 18K gold and enamel pocket chronometer with pivoted detent escapement, circa 1840. The back is engraved with foliage, coin-edge band. Hinged gold cuvette with white and translucent royal blue enamel floral decorations and a technical description. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel pierced hands. An engraved bar calibre movement pivoted detent escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, jewelled to the 3rd wheel, entire escapement with end stones. Dial, cuvette and movement signed. Property of a Spanish Gentleman.
