Enamelled gold scarab form watch

A fine Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel and diamond set pendant watch in the shape of a scarab with concealed dial and chain, circa 1900. Glazed LeCoultre bridge movement with a cylinder escapement and three arm brass balance. White enamel dial with blue Arabic hour numerals, a red 12, outer minute dots and spade hands. A scarab shaped case featuring spring loaded wings decorated with translucent green enamel over an engine turned pattern studded with old cut diamonds, a champlevé style neck set with diamonds, the diamond set head and hinged belly realistically chased and engraved, the eyes represented by two cut rubies. Accompanied by a corresponding watch chain with gold beads and lancet shaped elements decorated with translucent red and blue enamel on engine turning. With French import marks for 1893.
