Gold hunting cased keyless lever chronograph watch
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold full hunter chronograph pocket watch from the late 19th to early 20th century. It has a mechanical crown winding movement with a lever escapement and complex chronograph work visible through an inner glass exhibition cover. The outer gold protective cuvette is stamped with the French ‘owl’ (hibou) hallmark for imported 18 carat gold. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, a fine outer railway minute track combined with a chronograph scale, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, ornate gold Louis XV style hands, and a sleek central chronograph sweep hand.
–
The timepiece is housed in a substantial, heavy round three body, 18 carat solid yellow gold full hunter case with plain, polished front and back covers, a fluted winding crown with an integrated chronograph push button, and a sturdy suspension bow.

The French owl hallmark shows the watch was made in Switzerland but officially imported into France. This guarantees the solid gold case meets the strict 18 carat (750) fineness standard.
