A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold hunting cased minute repeating keyless lever watch, circa 1900. This watch features an unsigned damascened nickel movement with lever escapement, wolf’s tooth winding, jewels centred, bimetallic compensation balance, and two polished steel hammers that repeat on coiled gongs. It has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, an outer minute ring, gold filigree hands, and a recessed subsidiary seconds dial. The case is made of 18 carat yellow gold with polished covers; the front showcases an applied and engraved foliate form monogram, and the polished gold cuvette is engraved with Chronomètre à Répétition Sonnant heures, quarts & minutes, along with the case maker’s mark JL. All covers are numbered and bear Swiss hallmarks for 18 carat gold.

The movement is running, and the hands are setting smoothly. The surfaces are slightly dirty, with minor spotting on the plates and light scuffs. The quarters are not sounding when the repeating mechanism is activated; however, there is a pause between the sounding of the hours and minutes. A hairline crack on the dial runs from the edge at 12:02 to the centre, with a further hairline extending from the centre to the subsidiary seconds dial and a chip at the centre of the subsidiary seconds dial. A couple of additional faint scratches are present on the dial. The case has been repolished, showing some light scuffs and scratches, with slight rippling on the front cover at the upper right side, along with some minor dings on the band and back.
