Gold Trip Repeater watch by Patek Philippe & Co.

A very fine, extremely rare gentleman’s Geneva minute repeating pocket watch so-called Trip Repeater – with original box and Patek Philippe extract from the archives, circa 1900.
18-Carat rose gold, polished case with pusher for repetition via pendant. Signed white enamel dial with Arabic numerals for the hours, outer minutes track with red Arabic five minutes numerals, subsidiary dial for the seconds, and spade hands. Rhodium plated bridge movement, Geneva stripes, tandem winding with mirror polished click on the top, 30 jewels, counterpoised and calibrated straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating the hours, quarter hours and minutes with two hammers on two gongs activated by depressing a button in the crown.

Around 1900 Patek Philippe started making double train trip repeaters with two barrels in very limited quantities. Fewer than thirty of them are known. The very elegant and heavy case was made in the famous goldsmith workshops of Tiffany & Co. jewellers.
