Silver half-skeletonized cylinder watch

An unusual, half-skeletonized, quarter repeating, silver pocket watch with automaton Jacks in the form of a lion and a monkey, circa 1805. An Empire, solid, polished case with a reeded band. Spring-loaded hinged glazed engraved gilt metal cuvette fixed to the movement ring. White enamel dial annular chapter ring with Breguet numerals, outer minute track. Blued steel spade hands.

Varicoloured chased gold monkey and lion jacks on each side of the dial over a polished steel plate, appearing to strike the hours and quarters on two bells, a varicoloured figure of Chronos between and varicoloured gold appliqué of trees, foliage and birds below. Gilt brass movement, skeletonised, going barrel, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, repeating work on the backplate, repeating on two gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Case punched Carl Wagner.
