A very fine and rare English, 22K gold and enamel pearl set pair-cased watch, circa 1791-1792. Outer: the back case with translucent imperial blue enamel over engine-turning, pearl-set bezel terminated with white enamel band. Inner: A polished case. White enamel dial, radial Arabic numerals, outer minute dot divisions. Gold arrowhead hands. A hinged, frosted gilt full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, steel balance with flat balance spring, single-footed cock. Signed on the movement. Property of a French Collector.

This is an excellent example of the English luxury watch from the end of the 18th century with typical English settings for the pearls, and deep and exquisite engine-turning under the enamel, areas in which the English excelled.
