Silver and glass inkwell watchstand

A large Swiss lever watch in a substantial silver and glass inkwell stand, hallmarked Birmingham circa 1906. Nickelled three quarter plate key less movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, uncut bimetallic balance with spiral hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. Signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, and blue steel hands. Large plain nickel open face case with a gilt winding button. The watch secured in the silver top of the inkwell by a broad bayonet fit bezel. The silver housing on an unusual double hinged mechanism allows the watch to be seen, dial up, when the inkwell is closed. Heavy square glass inkwell with chamfered corners and geometrically cut base, the glass with an attractive yellow tinge.
