A Swiss keyless winding pocket watch with minute repeater, split seconds chronograph by H.R. Ekegrèn for Tiffany & Co., circa 1890-1900.
18 Carat pink gold, open faced, keyless winding, round shaped, pocket watch, with subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and three horological complications. Minute repeater on two steel gongs, activated by the slide at 8 o’clock. 1/5 Second chronograph with single push piece, activated by the round push piece located on the winding crown, safety bolt locking the chronograph’s functions, slide at 11 o’clock. Split seconds, activated by the rectangular push piece located on the case band at 10:3. Movement based on the American invention patent No. 61 867, delivered on February 5, 1867, to Geo. Reed, Boston, MA (USA), for a “Watch Regulator” (precision regulating device for fast/slow by means of an eccentric snail). Cuvette (dome) engraved in taille douce (fine cut) with the mention “Julien Ashton Ripley / 1900”. Lever escapement, cut compensated balance with gold and platinum poising screws and blued steel hairspring with terminal curve, patented index regulator with swan neck spring and micrometric screw.
