A very fine and rare heavy 18 Carat gold keyless quarter repeating pocket watch with 24-hour dial. Made by Vacheron & Constantin, Genève Switzerland, circa 1900. Four body, bassine et filets and polished case with hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, 24-hour numerals, subsidiary seconds and gold spade hands.
Frosted gilt movement with 29 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, calibrated straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold and platinum temperature and meantime adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, swan-neck micrometre regulator and repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band.
Dial, cuvette and movement signed and numbered, case numbered.
