A Swiss heavy 14 carat gold hunting cased quarter repeating pocket watch with chronograph, full calendar and moon phases made for the Russian Market, circa 1900.
An engine turned case. White enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track, Arabic five minute numerals, outermost fifth of a second divisions, windows for weekdays and months in Cyrillic in the center, date indiciation at 12 o’clock, sunk subsidiary seconds and concentric cobalt blue enamelled moon phases with a golden moon and stars at 6, a central chronograph hand and gold Louis XV hands. The ½ plate movement with a lever escapement, Patent 13244, two hammers, two gongs and a screw compensation balance.

Barbezat-Baillot changed the company name to Le Phare (lighthouse) in 1888, being the registered name of their complicated watches. Charles Barbezat-Baillot was an extremely gifted watchmaker and inventor who registered a large number of patents. Swiss patent No. 334 was one of his most important inventions, it included the use of centrifugal force for the repeater mechanism.
