Silver pocket chronograph watch by Omega
–
A Swiss silver open faced military pocket chronograph watch, circa 1909. This watch features a manual winding mechanical movement. It has a white enamel dial with a black painted minute track and Arabic numerals, golden Stuart pear hands, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, a 30 minute counter at 12 o’clock, and a central second hand for the chronograph function. The round, engine turned silver case has a smooth bezel, a fluted crown, and an officer’s caseback engraved with K.U.K – Kriegs-Marine. The case and dial are signed.

The Kaiserliche und Königliche Kriegsmarine, abbreviated as K.U.K., was the imperial and royal navy of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Although it did not play a significant role during the First World War, it had to confront the French and Italian navies, particularly in the Mediterranean. It was disbanded shortly after the 1914-1918 war. It is uncommon to find a watch for naval officers in solid silver because of the oxidation caused by saltwater.
–
Good overall condition, with numbers slightly faded at 7 o’clock, and visible use scratches and patina on the case.

Signed: Ω Omega
