Reference 840 was produced from 1951 to the late 1960s in a small series of only about 30 copies. To date, fewer than ten of them are known to experts. The rare sports chronograph is equipped with the well-known 13” chronograph movement, which was used in all wrist chronographs of the time. The silver-plated dial has black, clearly raised scales and the Patek Philippe lettering in the centre, as well as applied, silver-coloured indices and Arabic numbers. At six o’clock, there is a square-shaped eyelet so that the watch can be worn on a strap around the neck. A screwback protects the movement from the weather when measuring time outdoors. This makes it the only pendant/pocket watch with a screw back ever made by Patek Philippe.

Signed: Patek Philippe
