Pocket watch which possibly was a military deck watch
–
An unusual stainless steel, possibly military deck watch with center seconds made by Omega SA in Biel, Switzerland, circa 1947. The numbered open faced case of this watch was crafted from stainless steel and its silvered dial has an outer center seconds scale, an inner ring with Arabic hour numerals and silver hands. The numbered gold movement has a lever escapement and 16 jewels.
The dial and movement are signed.

The item presented here is a very unusual one. The large size and the extra long seconds hand made it possible to use it as a deck watch with a measuring accuracy of 1/5 second. Only a few examples of this reference have appeared to date. The piece here was probably made for the Italian navy.
