Unique pocket watch made of root maple from Switzerland
–
A unique Swiss verge pocket watch made of root maple, circa 1780. The majority of wooden pocket watches we know were made in Russia (Bronnikov). However, this watch was probably produced in Switzerland.
Moulded root maple case with a large lateral hinge. Enamel dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes track with Arabic fifteen minutes numerals, and Louis XV hands. Wooden full plate movement, keywind, chain/fusee, moulded wooden pillars, regulator disc and pierced balance bridge.
