Silver limited edition Masonic pendant watch
–
A fine and unusual Swiss sterling silver keyless lever Masonic pendant watch, made by Minerva in a limited edition of 500 pieces, circa 1989, sold on 1 December 1989. This watch has a blue and white enamel dial, featuring a white enamelled pyramid set against a blue enamelled background, with gilt Masonic symbols in place of conventional hour numerals, and further symbols decorating the triangular centre. The hands are original gilt sword shaped hands, consistent with the symbolic programme of the dial. The massive silver case is designed as a Masonic apron (Tablier), with a combination of polished and satiné surfaces. The hinged bezel is engraved with the Union Chain and set with a square and compass, allowing the watch to be worn as a pendant. The case back bears a representation of the Quadrature of the Circle with the letter G for Gnose and Geometry.
–
The rhodium plated movement has 17 jewels, a straight line lever escapement, a monometallic balance, a self compensating flat balance spring, and an index regulator. The case and movement are both signed by Minerva. Accompanied by its original fitted presentation box, guarantee card, and explanatory booklet of the Masonic symbols.
