A very fine Swiss rose gold-plated and silver open faced keyless lever pocket watch, specially made for the St. Gallen Tir Federal archery contest, in 1904.
Frosted gilt movement supplied by LeCoultre & Cie, bar calibre, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, swan-neck micrometre regulator. Hinged silver cuvette engraved Eidgenossisches Schutzenfest, St. Gallen, 1904 beneath the coat of arms. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds and original gold Louis XVI hands. Polished and frosted silver case, the back cast with the design by Holy Frères, St. Imier of a stylized figure of an archer and the inscription St. Gallen 1904. Dial signed by Sandoz, the movement signed LeCoultre & Cie, case numbered. Accompanied by the original fitted presentation box and the original Sandoz certificate.
