An impressive French deck chronometer in a heavy mahogany box, circa 1829. Sold July 29th, 1829, to Monsieur Ducom, the representative for Breguet in Bordeaux, for the price of 1100 Francs. Brass movement, barrel, applied platform with spring detent escapement according to Thomas Earnshaw, tripod adjusting device for the helical balance spring, heavy chronometer balance with four weights and four screws. Silvered dial within the upper half radial time indication with Roman hours and outer minute dots with Arabic numerals underneath subsidiary seconds. Dial signed and numbered, movement numbered. Comes with a certificate and the original numbered key.
