–
An impressive French deck chronometer in a heavy mahogany box, circa 1829. This unique watch showcases a brass movement, barrel, applied platform with spring detent escapement in the style of Thomas Earnshaw, a tripod adjusting device for the helical balance spring, and a substantial chronometer balance with four weights and four screws. The silvered dial features radial time indication with Roman hours in the upper portion and outer minute dots with Arabic numerals below subsidiary seconds. The dial bears a signature and number, and the movement is also numbered. It is accompanied by a certificate and the original numbered key. On July 29th, 1829, it was purchased by Monsieur Ducom, the representative for Breguet in Bordeaux, for the sum of 1100 Francs. It comes with a Breguet certificate and the original winding key No. 4749.
