A large Austrian silver, leather-covered pair-cased quarter repeating coach clock of museum quality with quarter-hour and hour self-strike and alarm, circa 1760. Full plate movement, chain and fusee, three barrels, five hammers, three-arm brass balance, richly engraved with flowers, mythical creatures, foliage and a mascaron. Silver champlevé dial with Roman hours and Arabic five-minute numerals. The outer case is leather-covered and decorated with studs, applied silver ornaments on the back, sound openings, the inner case is richly florally engraved and pierced with a rear bell.

Thomas Fri(e)dl was probably a native of Augsburg, who settled in Salzburg in 1751 and became a master on June 19th, 1751. He was active until 1781 at least. Some other good quality watches made by him are also known.
