An ornamental English silver and tortoiseshell pair cased verge pocket watch, circa 1700. Gilt full plate movement, verge escapement, chain and fusee, three-arm steel balance, very finely florally engraved and pierced balance cock. Silver champlevé dial with Roman hours and Arabic five-minute numerals. The outer case is covered with tortoiseshell and decorated with studs, an engraved river scene on the back, plain silver inner case. Dial signed Bird, movement signed Mich Bird London.
