A rare English 22 carat gold triple-cased repoussé verge pocket watch, circa 1784. Full plate movement, key wind, chain and fusee, three-arm steel balance. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic five-minute numerals. A glazed, gilded brass transport case covered with shagreen and decorated with studs, the 22 carat gold outer case is chased with a mythological scene, the return of the prodigal son, the inner case is also made of 22 carat gold, maker’s mark IW. Dial signed, movement signed and numbered.
