An extensive estate of an excellent graduate of the German Watchmaking School in Glashütte in Saxony, circa 1913. Consisting of his masterfully crafted school pocket chronometer, a gear model and a pair of astatic needles. ¾ Plate movement engraved with the date April 25, 1913, screwed gold chatons, a chronometer escapement, mirror polished cock, heavy gold screw compensation balance and a free swinging, blued cylindrical balance spring. White enamel dial with black Roman hours, an outer minute track, blue Arabic five minute numerals, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blued spade & whip hands. The 14 carat rose gold open faced case with engraved monogram PB on the back. Dial signed, case numbered, movement signed and numbered. The Comes with a certificate of recognition from the German Watchmaking School in Glashütte for outstanding achievements dated April 25, 1913, a leaving certificate from the German Watchmaking School in Glashütte, an apprenticeship certificate, a journeyman’s certificate from 1908, job references and a photo of the 1913 graduate class.

This timepiece is accompanied by a model of an anchor escapement with a painted and signed brass plate and an uncut bimetallic screw balance on a walnut base by Arthur Guricke, come with a glass dome and has a total height of 130 mm. A further astatic pair of brass needles on a partially ebonized oak base also by Arthur Guricke, comes with a glass dome, is 160 mm high and has a total height of 210 mm.

In recognition of his achievements, hard work and good behavior, Paul Bendfeldt received the German Watchmaking School’s certificate of recognition for outstanding achievements from the Moritz Grossmann Foundation. He was born in 1888. Completed his watchmaking apprenticeship in Grevesmühlen from 1904 to 1907. From October 1912 to May 31, 1913 he attended the German Watchmaking School in Glashütte and was a member of Activitas and the Old Gentlemen’s Association of Saxonia under the direction of Prof. L. Strasser, which he joined in 1912. After a stay in Switzerland with the Zurich watch dealer G. Billian Fils from October 1, 1913 to August 1, 1914, he took over his uncle Carl Blanck’s watch shop on Königstrasse in Lübeck. He was very active in the watchmakers’ guild and died on April 15, 1960 in Lübeck.
