A fine, heavy Glashütte hunting cased pocket watch, with original box and original certificate, circa 1913.
18 carat rose gold, tiered, polished case with engraved monogram “HK”, gold dome with presentation engraving: “In Anerkennung treuer Mitarbeit 1889 – 1914, Hüser & Cie. Obercassel” and a large lateral hinge. Signed enamel dial with Arabic “Empire” numerals, auxiliary seconds and Louis XV hands. 3/4 plate movement, frosted, gilt, with gold screw compensation balance, florally hand-engraved balance cock, index spring fine adjusting device and gold lever and escape wheel.

Hartwig Hueser (1834-1899) was a merchant and entrepreneur from Hamm in Westfalia; in 1870 he and he young wife moved to Oberkassel where he founded a company on April 1st (the “Gesellschaft für Cement-Stein-Fabrikation Hüser & Cie. Unternehmung von Beton &Eisenbauten, Oberkassel Siegkreis, gegründet 1870”). After Hueser’s death in 1899 his sons Alfred and Hugo continued the business with great success.
