Rare gilt brass lever with unusual dial by Brosse

A rare French gilt brass pocket watch with unusual lever escapement and dial, circa 1825. Lateral lever escapement, a cross between a cylinder and rack lever, in which the cylinder is fitted with a lever terminated with a rack combining with a half-pinion forming the balance staff, two banking pins, large barrel with female winding square, mounted into a steel disc attached to the front plate. Silvered dial, three letters for each hour, which together reads ‘Ne nous gaspille pas si tu veux etre heureux’ (don’t waste us if you want to be happy), elaborate blued steel hands and the hour hand mounted to a rotating disc. Gilt brass case with glazed covers. Dial signed ‘Brosse Bordx’.
