A remarkable, unusual and fine German silver open faced keyless split seconds chronograph pocket watch with dual time indication made by M. Wolfensberger in Le Locle, circa 1900. The gilt full plate Swiss lever movement with a cut and compensated balance, and punched with the Viper Hallmark. White enamel face with Arabic hours, outer minute divisions, Arabic five minute numerals, an outermost fifth of a second track, a dual time dial at 6 o’clock, sunk subsidiary seconds at 2, a 30 minute register at 10, blued steel Breguet hands and a center chronograph hand. The brushed and polished hinged case with a textured back, split seconds button to the ribbed band and a cuvette engraved Bulletin de Première Classe de l’Observatoire National de Besançon 1933 réglé par Breguet. Case and movement are signed and have matching numbers. Comes with its fitted presentation box.
