A fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel mandolin form watch with concealed dial and visible balance made by Des Arts Pére fils & Cie in Geneva, circa 1810. The hinged, gilt brass full plate movement, ∅ 20 mm, with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, a verge escapement, micrometric potence adjustment, plain three arm brass balance, continental clock and silver regulator plate. White enamel dial with Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions and gold spade hands. A mandolin shaped case, the sound board chased and engraved with a seated cherub, flowers and foliage, a glazed sound hole displaying the balance cock and balance and black enamel decoration, the vaulted back with alternating sections of champlevé enamel in blue and yellow, red and black, and wire strings, a further gold suspension chain. Accompanied by a gold ratchet key.
