A very fine and rare Swiss rock crystal, platinum and diamond set open faced
keyless pocket watch made for Cartier in Paris, France, circa 1915. The rhodium
plated movement by the European Watch and Clock Co. Inc. features Geneva striping decoration, 19 jewels, a straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with eight adjustments, blued steel flat balance spring and an index regulator. An ivory coloured enamel chapter ring with gold Roman hours and alternating flowerhead half hour markers on the face, a silver engine turned center with Arabic five minute numerals and blued steel Breguet hands. The rock crystal case with a platinum band set with rose cut diamonds and a triangular bow. Dial signed Cartier, case numbered, movement signed European Watch & Clock Co. Inc.
