Gold hunting cased lever watch

A very attractive Austrian 14 carat gold and enamel hunting cased pocket watch made by Friedrich Baumann in Vienna, circa 1910. The LeCoultre caliber, bridge movement with a piston tooth lever escapement and screw compensation balance. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and spade hands. The case with an engraved monogram and crown above on the front, on the reverse a polychrome enamelled noble coat of arms and punched with maker’s mark Genève/CD for C. Degallier in Geneva. Comes with its original leather presentation box. Dial and cuvette signed, case numbered.

Watchmaker Friedrich Baumann in Vienna traded under the name K.u.K. Hof-Uhrmacher, Royal Greek and Royal Bulgarian Court Watchmaker, and K.u.K. Treasurer sworn in by the commercial court. He received numerous gold medals and first prizes from exhibitions in Trieste, Vienna, Paris, Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Athens, St. Petersburg and London between 1882 and 1906.
