A fine English verge made for the Turkish market in gilt metal and tortoiseshell triple cases, circa 1865. Fire gilt verge movement, small Egyptian pillars with pierced galleries above, fusee and chain, pierced and engraved cock with diamond endstone, plain steel balance, silver regulator disc with Turkish markings. Signed white enamel dial, Turkish numerals, gilt steel beetle and poker hands. Matching gilt pair cases, the bezel and the back of the outer is beautiful decoratively engraved. Gilt pendant and bow, maker’s mark WCS in a rectangle. The third protective case covered in tortoiseshell and decorated with gilt pique pins, engraved gilt bezels.
